The first STIHL chainsaw was developed and built by hand back in the year 1926, by a man named Andreas Stihl. His first attempt at making a chain saw produced a rather heavy piece of equipment; one weighing around 140 pounds. Chainsaw carving is a medium that is being practiced by more and more individuals. Figures such as bears, buildings and even busts of people are being carved out of blocks of wood using a chain saw. Yet it is most likely that when Andreas Stihl designed his first electric chain saw, he had no idea that it would be someday used to create art. For whatever purpose these power saws are used, the Stihl brand is a name that offers a variety of chainsaws and equipment to fit not only industrial purposes, but also for uses around the home and property.
