For many years people have held onto the hope that the day would arrive when electric cars would be a common sight on the roads, helping to control pollution and greatly cut down on the dependence for imported oil for gasoline.

It seems like development has been much slower than the promises. Rumors have been swirling around in the automobile industry for years, but finally, in the last few years more hybrid electric cars have started to be introduced into the marketplace.

electric cars
Of course, the combustion engine has been the basis of the auto industry for over a century. There is no doubt that gas powered engines will continue to be used for many years into the future, even after the electric cars take hold and gain in popularity and market share.

However, it is not simply popularity that is standing in the way of widespread acceptance and use of the electric car. There are still some drawbacks that need to be worked out. As well, pricing needs to be lowered, so that the average driver can afford to purchase one.

Even with the issues that need to be resolved, there is definitely a shift in the marketplace toward electric cars and part of this movement has been spurred on by the concerns and warnings about global warming. The experts who claim that global warming is a monumental problem that must be addressed immediately point to the use of fossil fuels in gasoline burning cars as one of the biggest contributors to the problem.

all electric car
Hybrid cars have been the most recent step toward fully functional electric cars. They have been introduced by some of the major car makers and have been embraced well by the public.

These hybrid electric cars use both gas-powered engines in combination with electric motor power to significantly increase the mileage per gallon that these vehicles alternative approach offer as the greatest benefit to ownership.

The technology behind the hybrid electric cars is advancing very rapidly and it is likely that more options in hybrid vehicles will be available and that the prices will begin to come down as well, as the technology in the all electric car continues to improve.

One of the main areas of advancement that is still needed, is in a significant improvement of the battery technology. Improvements that will allow for longer trips, lessening the need to stop to plug the car in for a recharge. As the battery technology advances, there will be less and less need for the auxiliary power that comes from the gas engine.

electric sports car
When batteries improve sufficiently, eventually nothing more than a power cord and a place to plug it in to get a charge will be needed. Some time in the future, with the new electric car of your choice, perhaps there will be the option of small solar cells for a quick boost of energy in case you end up with dead batteries in the middle of nowhere.

Once this problem is overcome, it is certain that electric cars will make significant inroads into the development of new automobiles. Once this happens, it will give people serious options when it comes to their transportation choices.

The truth about the matter is that gas prices will only continue to rise so saving gas is becoming a necessity these days. Anyone who doesn’t look for ways of saving gas will only be doing themselves a huge disfavor, and their finances will suffer as a result.

Many people do not realize that the speed they drive at determines how long gas will last in their tanks. When you drive over 60km per hour, you consume more gas than you should. The best driving speed to conserve gas at is 57mph.

Gas credit cards consist mainly of those that cover only the buy of gas products and those that cover the purchase of both gas and non gas products. Brand gas credit cards often come with better rebate rates than non branded credit cards and are therefore ideal for the purpose of saving gas costs.

stable energy economy
A staggering 150 million gallons of gas is lost each year to evaporation. One effective gas saving techniques is to always park your car away from the sun in the shade of trees or buildings.

There are a number of cars that are designed to be save gas economical. The Toyota prius is a gas economical car that conserves gas very well. You can go to the internet and shop around for fuel economical cars if you are particularly about saving gas.

Why should you continue to take the very long routes to work or take those routes that always have traffic jams? If you really want of saving gas, then you should take shorter routes or those that don’t have traffic jams. The time you spend in traffic jams result in unnecessary use of gas. If you can avoid it, don’t take long routes and don’t get stuck in traffic.

If you are male, you may think that weaving in and out of traffic makes you look like James Bond to the ladies; but in actual fact, you are putting on a show for a huge deal of gas consumption. Erratic driving on the road leads to a loss of gas because of the tendency for you to jackrabbit. Leave all the tire tearing antics on the road to stuntsmen and save gas by driving at a more sedate pace.

saving gas is actually no big deal. It only requires mental and physical effort on your part. If you spend the time to think out [spin]various|several[spin] ways to save gas, you will be surprised at the simple ideas and tips that you will come up with, and implement, that will help you save gas a great deal.

If someone were to tell you that farts were destroying the environment, you might laugh for quite a while. You probably would not take them seriously.

There are groups, comprised mainly of vegetarians, that believe our over abundant use of animals for food is contributing too many greenhouse gases. These gases rise and help create the greenhouse effect which is a part of global warming.

greenhouse emissions
Okay, now that the laughter has died down, there has to be some illumination on this dreadful environmental issue. Some vegetarian groups believe that the wide consumption of meat has contributed to the global warming dilemma. As more people consume meat, more animals for food are needed. Animals digest plants and other materials and then give off methane gas. Groups believe that these gases are the number one cause of the greenhouse gas effect. More gas means a greater impact on the environmental issue of greenhouse gases and global warming.

It is true that animals and humans alike produce carbon dioxide and methane gas. If the argument regarding too many animals is applicable, then so to does the consideration that there is an overabundance of humans on the planet, each and every one contributing to the global warming climate change predicament. What should the solution to this be? World-wide population regulations or euthanasia of humans producing too much gas has actually been suggested in essays detailing how humanity is creating its own environmental issue by merely existing.

global warming science
If you are a vegetarian you may believe that there needs to be a reduction in the amount of animals used for meat production. If you are a meat eater, then you may believe that this is a bogus issue. So it comes down to personal beliefs and opinions. Opinion and preference can manipulate facts and percentages to reflect whatever the desired result is needed.

It is our responsibility to be aware of our actions and impact on an environmental issue. Humanity has already shown that we can change our wicked ways of global warming greenhouse effect by helping save species that are becoming extinct, before they actually do. We have voted for legislation to ensure that corporations can not dump toxic chemicals into our landfills and water streams. When there is concrete information regarding the global warming debate, then we will take our part as well.

If you want to use solar power, then it is indeed possible to put this together. Many people already have a solar system installed on their roofs. Solar power can also be used for other stuff, like powering a car (although obviously you can’t do this in a practical situation). Solar really is a great source of energy since it requires no resources and comes instantly.

It is actually possible to build your own windmill in your backyard, although very few people have actually done this. Wind energy can be used to power ordinary appliances if installed correctly. We are already using wind farms with windmills to generate entirely free electricity, although we don’t have enough of these yet. Building a windmill in your backyard can actually be a fun project.

For someone that wants to save money on their power bills, then renewable energy sources certainly seem like a good solution. Most people just don’t realize that you can create your own electricity with either a wind or solar system. Now, more than ever, we need to think about alternative sources of energy. This won’t just save you money - it will also save the planet.

For more information on all this, just look for a earth 4 energy review.

Biodiesel has many benefits, but one of the most exciting things about biodiesel is that anyone can make it at home. Imagine being able to make your fuel for your vehicleor even to create energy for your home right in your garage That translates to significant savings for you who rely heavily on commercial fuel suppliers.

Homemade biodiesel is highly doable since the process is easy to undertake. It sounds practical producing your own since you can reap rewards later for your initiative.

Biodiesel Supplies

To make a small batch of biodiesel at home all you need are a few supplies. You need the actual ingredients to make the biodiesel. You also need some supplies to mix the fuel- empty plastic bottles, duct tape, a blender and measuring cups. Be sure anything you use to make your biodiesel is only used for that purpose and never used again in the kitchen for cooking.

Once the supply requirements are available, you can start your journey in learning the procedure to make a biodiesel.

Safe Process

Making biodiesel is a relatively safe process. There is little risk for fire or explosion as you may expect with fuel.|Cases of fire or explosion pose a little concern. In fact, the only major area of concern, as far as safety, is exposure to possible burns. You just need to take extra precautions especially in dealing with mixture temperature.

You will undergo the simple process of biodiesel production which takes into account the mixing of input ingredients, separation of the by product and cleaning of the biodiesel. The timeframe of the entire process can take a few days to a few weeks. That depends on how clean your vegetable oil was to start with.

Small or Large Scale

You can make biodiesel on a small scale or a large scale. Biodiesel kits are appropriate for low volume production. If you are running your lawnmower or other lawn equipment then [/pin]a biodiesel kit would be perfect|you can embark on biodiesel kit[/spin]. The same kit is easy to use aside from requiring just a small quantity of inputs.

If you are looking to make more biodiesel, say to fuel your vehicle, then you will need a biodiesel processor. This makes the process simplified, thus allowing you to produce more quantities. With a processor you will need some more supplies but you also will not have to spend a lot of time making biodiesel since the processor does most of the work for you.

There are several ways to save money on power. Right now, a popular way to save is to have your own solar power system. There are actually a few different ways to use solar power for under a couple hundred bucks. Interestingly enough, solar power can be used to power normal things like lights, laptops and TV’s. If you want to do this properly, I would recommend getting a grid inter tied solar powered system.

Wind power is one interesting way to help the planet and stop wasting money on electricity. Funnily enough, it is actually possible to build a windmill in your own backyard and have it generate power for you. It’s possible to do with as little as a hundred bucks, but you’ll need diagrams and step-by-step instructions to do it properly.

An interesting way to save money on power is to get the “Earth 4 Energy” kit, which goes through how to save money on power by building windmills and using solar power. Of course, this is not for everyone, because there is some technical stuff you’ll need to do to make stuff like this actually work. You can always look for a Earth 4 Energy review if you want to know more about it.

IGCC is the combination of gasification with a combined-cycle turbine system to generate electricity. Don’t let the complexity of the technological terms put you off reading this!

Unfortunately, this technology is not easy for the ordinary public to understand, but that does not mean that it should be ignored or dismissed, in fact it is all the more important to persevere until you do understand. It is important that as many people as possible appreciate how this could help a world desperately in need of low cost energy produced in the most environmentally responsible way.

The typical Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle power plant consists of four major operating components:

1. an air separation unit (ASU) to provide pure oxygen;

2. a gasification plant where heat is generated;

3. a gas clean-up system;

4. and a combined-cycle power plant (which by “combined cycle” simply means that the energy from both the high pressure gas produced by gasification, and the the steam from gas combustion has passed through the turbine).

The gasification process takes place at extremely high pressure and temperature which very effectively almost totally destroys all of the residual toxic and polluting chemicals which traditional coal fired power station combustion leaves behind.

IGCC is the cleanest technology available so far for the conversion of solid fuel into electricity. The emissions expected and achieved from these plants when compared to standard coal plants (and that includes even the newest proposed throughout the world today) are far lower.

Another great feature of IGCC is that it is the only thermal power option, excluding new nuclear plants, that effectively mitigates fuel price volatility while addressing current and future environmental concerns. An IGCC project’s fuel cost hedging capability stems from its ability to gasify any combination of natural gas, coal, and waste-products such as petroleum coke.

As we have already indicated, but wish to stress is that the power is generated from both the gas and steam turbines, resulting within this combined cycle, a much higher efficiency. This is even after the loading placed upon the turbine as it simultaneously compresses the feed reactants, as it turns.

That IGCC using coal for power generation is currently the cleanest coal technology available is being demonstrated to the US House of Representatives, committee on Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality in an programme commenced in 2003, at four plants that are currently operating.

Perhaps the principal obstacle to the development of IGCC projects is their capital cost compared to conventional steam/electric options. The capital cost of a new IGCC facility is around 20 to 30% higher than the cost of a new conventional pulverized-coal-fired plant.

Implementing IGCC is a long term strategy for hedging against oil price rises. As the oil and gas prices rise the argument for IGCC just keeps getting stronger. Until now, although many in the US have recommended that an accelerated shift toward coal use by gasification would put a long-term ceiling on the price of oil a stronger lobby has pointed out that the United States would benefit more financially from simply scaling up extraction of offshore oil and natural gas.

For the present, especially in the US, coal-fired plants are still competitive while IGCC technology is being implemented in a few plants, and is getting its chance to prove commercial viability.

But, the final benefit from IGCC of easy and simple carbon capture within the process when you gasify like this, is likely to be the winning feature ultimately driving this new technology forward into mainstream generating capacity. Carbon separation and long term capture, before its emission (as Carbon Dioxide) to the atmosphere from the flue gases is also called “carbon sequestration” in the US.

Carbon sequestration has yet to be proven but could become a large factor in reducing climate change from carbon emissions. The idea is that you produce carbon dioxide, but don’t emit it to the atmosphere. By not emitting it, all worry about climate change would be arrested in its tracks!

There are two types of sinks which could be used and are highly unlikely to be needed for any other use. These are deep un-mineable coal seems and deep saline aquifers. Carbon capture is under way at several sites in Europe and the United States. Sequestration tests need to find out if the CO2 stays put and won’t leak up into drinking aquifers or out into the atmosphere.

The proof of the technology to capture and sequester the carbon dioxide and other pollutants is still five to 10 years off, at best. Also, there are no legal mandates yet requiring that new coal plants be made compatible with carbon sequestration technologies when they become ready for deployment.

Nevertheless, coal burnt by conventional combustion is in serious trouble. Coal-fired power plants are the leading source of mercury in air in many US states. Even looking nationwide, these plants are responsible for over 40% of the mercury that enters the air each year. The widespread adoption of IGCC would immediately remedy this problem.

IGCC is a clean coal technology that combines two technologies, coal gasification and combined cycle, with the low cost associated with coal. Coal IGCC works, GEC has proven it, and arguably so have a handful of EU funded working scale pilot plant demonstration projects. It is known technology and can be built today. There are no real technical barriers, and compatibility with any sequestration requirements in the future is excellent.

Each and every day we are affected by climate science. It surrounds us in everything we do. Each time we turn on the weather station, climate science is at work predicting the coming day’s weather patterns.

The need for concrete evidence is paramount for further studies on the effects of global warming on our environment and us. If there is solid research then solutions can be worked out for the benefit of mankind.

climate science
Evidence of global warming is currently debated. If it were not for climate science, there would not be any information to make informed decisions on. Unfortunately there seems to be disagreement as to the effects of global warming and even climate science can not provide concrete evidence of cause or effect at this point in time.

Scientists and researchers have factual evidence of a rise in temperatures but the global warming science debate is fueled by not knowing the extent mankind has on weather patterns.

There are a few key facts that are indisputable. Climate science has shown that the average temperature of near-surface air and ocean temperatures has risen in the past one hundred years. We know that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases help create a blanket affect of the atmosphere. This blanket of gases prevents solar radiation from exiting the atmosphere.

global warming climate change
Climate science has shown that carbon dioxide emissions are a natural byproduct of the Earth and its inhabitants. It is debated that only a percentage of carbon dioxide is attributed to man. Until further research is performed, the exact nature of global warming will continue to be under debate.

The more information that is discovered through researching the past and present climate, the more global warming pollution studies will be able to formulate the impact global warming has, if any, on mankind and continually shifting weather patterns. It is not an exact science but the more studies that are conducted, the better overall information we will be able to ascertain.

global warming pollution
Climate change global warming studies will continue to be essential to climate science research. Hopefully one day soon there will be definitive answers about the state of the Earth’s condition and our impact on the environment. As studies progress perhaps then mankind can have the answers to ensuring that our environment stays clean and healthy for the future of humanity.

Many are in constant search to alternative fuels to run their vehicles. Major factors like rising prices, resource depletion and pollution are expected to be addressed with alternative fuels available to consumers. Biodiesel for instance has already made an impact in the market.

Biodiesel is becoming a sought after fuel source because it offers so many benefits over diesel fuel. Many start to notice the growing use of biodiesel by business entities whose applicability to personal use is a smart idea.

Biodisel is Cleaner

Biodiesel burns cleaner. This is important for two reasons. First, it means you are producing less when you drive which is great for the earth. Second, it meansyour engine’s wear and time frame is longer. The bottom line is you save in the repair and maintenance service of your vehicle in the long run.

The ability of biodiesel to burn up cleaner than the regular diesel is a big plus factor. Pollution is a huge concern for everyone and vehicle emissions are at the top of the list of contributing factors to the high level of pollution. Taking away its other benefits, Biodiesel is still a smart choice for your car because of its pro environment benefits.

Biodisel is Renewable

Biodiesel is a renewable energy source. Regular oildoes not fall under such classification. Once the latter is consumed then it is gone for good. Eventually oil will dry up making renewable sources important. Biodieselis expected to prevail owing to availability of inputs. Inputs in the production of biodiesel are sourced out from the farm field such as grains and other natural products.

This is important because as our other energy sources deplete we need renewable sources to help provide us with energy so we can continue on our daily lives.

Biodisel is Easily Made at Home

One of the most important feature about Biodiesel is that you can make biodiesel at home. All it takes is just a good Biodiesel processor and you can make it right at your garage

Biodisel is Safer

Biodiesel is safer than regular diesel. The production of biodiesel is not as risky as the production of diesel fuel. It will not explode or catch fire like diesel fuel. It is considered safe to human beings.

In fact, the only major danger involved with biodiesel is that during production it is subjected to high temperature levelso there is a risk for burns. Simple precautions can prevent this from being a danger.

There are many reasons why Biodiesel is a better choice than diesel fuel or other fuel alternatives. It is something worth considering when you are tired of paying the high prices for diesel fuel.

One good thing about Biodiesel is that you can have it as a homemade bio diesel.

The following are top five (5) reasons why you should shift to Biodiesel to run your vehicle.

Reason One - Biodiesel contains less water than diesel fuel

All types of fuel contain to a certain extent a mixture of water. However, the actual amount of watercomponent used up in the fuel you put in your car can vary. If you happen to get too much water this can be harmful to your car, making it run different and sometimes causing it to not run at all.

In the case of Biodiesel, water mixture is minimal thus it is much better to use.

Reason Two - Biodiesel is cheaper

Do-it-yourself Biodiesel production is possible making its price affordable . Compared to regular diesel, Biodiesel’s pump price from gas stations is even cheaper. Biodiesel also is better for your vehicle and allows you to spend less in service and maintenance.

Reason Three - Biodiesel is more suitable for your vehicle

Biodiesel burns cleaner and has better lubricating properties than regular diesel. Thus promoting less wear and tear on your engine. Over time you will see you are saving money due to needing less repairs and service.

Reason Four - Biodiesel uses renewable resources

Having a renewable fuel source is something that is very important. Many people simply fail to take note that the current fuel sources are being used up and eventually will dry up. Once gone there is nothing anyone can do to bring them back.

Renewable energy sources, like Biodiesel, will never run out. Considering its natural inputs for production, Biodiesel can be produced from the same inputs.

Reason Five - Biodiesel friendier to the environment

Vehicle emissions are one of the top contributors to high pollution levels. With so many vehicles on the road that is not a surprise. Regular fuel is dirty and gives off many pollutants. Biodiesel burns clean and gives off n pollutants.

The shift to biodisel in a way promotes better environment condition. favorable for the environment, animals and humans who are breathing in the polluted air. Any amount that can that be reduced is a good thing.
